'Firebomb' attack Glasgow: Building torched in Ruchill destroying business

A business has been destroyed after a 'firebomb' attack in the north of Glasgow.

Fire crews were called into action in the early hours of this morning in response to a blaze on Shannon Street in Ruchill.

The Daily Reports SOS Metals was targeted in the attack, with police confirming their investigations into 'wilful' fire-raising.

No was injured as a result of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were made aware of a fire at a premises on Shannon Street in Glasgow around 2.15am on Thursday, 8 July, 2021.

“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no-one was injured.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson advised: “We were alerted at 1.52am on Thursday, July 8 to reports of a building on fire at Shannon Street, Glasgow."

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a single storey building.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
