Firebomb attack at Glasgow flats as three cars torched in 'huge explosion'

This is the terrifying moment flames leap into the air outside a Glasgow block of flats after firebomb thugs torched three vehicles.

The dramatic image shows the inferno raging close to the block on on Porchester Street near to Tattershall Road after the fires were set early yesterday morning.

Our sister site Glasgow Live reports locals hearing a 'loud explosion' around 1am followed by another bang around half an hour later.

Emergency crews were called and firefighters battled the blaze with police also being called to the scene.

Nobody was hurt in the drama but police and fire chiefs have launched a probe into the fire which they say was started deliberately.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were alerted at 1.17am on Tuesday, June 22 to reports of vehicles on fire at Porchester Street, Glasgow.

“Operations control mobilised one appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one vehicle. There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called around 1.30am on Tuesday, June 22, to a report of a vehicle on fire in the Porchester Street area of Glasgow.

"Enquiries have found that three vehicles were deliberately set on fire and an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances.”
