Fireball as car bursts into flames after 'loud explosion' in Fife

A car turned into a fireball following a loud explosion in a street in Fife.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Ladybank road after the blaze ripped through the vehicle on Sunday night.

A dramatic picture taken by an onlooker shows members of the public watching on as emergency services attend the inferno.

One local said: "There was a really loud exhaust speeding off along the road then an explosion."

A second local said: "I heard the car speeding along then BOOM."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.45pm on Sunday, 24 October, officers were made aware of a car on fire in Ladybank Road, Dunshalt, Cupar.

"Officers attended and enquiries are being carried out to establish the cause of the fire."

Scottish Fire and Rescue have been contacted for comment.
