Firearms and ammunition uncovered after police swoop on Erskine home

A man has been arrested and charged after police uncovered a stash of firearms and ammunition at a home raid in Erskine.

Officers made the discovery after swooping on a property in Douglas Crescent on Saturday, 22 August as part of an ongoing, intelligence-led operation.

The 55-year-old is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today in connection with the recovery.

Detective Inspector Martin McGhee, of Police Scotland's Specialist Crime Division, said: "We have recovered a number of firearms and ammunition following an intelligence-led operation. I would urge anyone who has information about the criminal use of firearms to contact Police Scotland on 101. Your information will be treated with the utmost confidence.

"If you would prefer to remain anonymous, you can pass on information through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
