Wind change eases bushfire threat for WA towns of Allanson and Collie

Smoke could be seen from a number of properties in Allanson, where the blaze continues to burn.

A bushfire emergency warning for people living in the town of Allanson near Collie in Western Australia's South West has been downgraded to advice level.

Earlier on Sunday, people living in or near the Coalfields Highway, Hamilton Road, Wallis Road, Mornington Road and Patstone Road — including Worsley Back Road, McAvoy Road and Railway Parade in the northern parts of Allanson — had been urged by authorities to act immediately.

However, a wind change away from the town prompted authorities to downgrade the warning.

A watch and act advice that had been issued for the town of Collie was downgraded to advice level.

A total fire ban is currently in place for the shire.
