A fire has torn through a section of forest at a Wirral beauty spot.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service rushed to Bidston Hill at around 8.25pm on Monday, April 25, following reports of a fire. A fire engine arrived at scene andfound a large part of the forestry by the observation tower well alight.

Footage taken at the scene shows grass and trees on fire and smoke taking over the area. Another small clip shows bright orange flames coming from the beauty spot.

Fire crews used hose reel jets to fight the 15m x 13m blaze, which took around two hours to get under control. Fire fighters have now dampened down and left the scene.

Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service were not in attendance and no injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
