Fire teams set to work overnight on Premier Inn fire

Firefighters will work throughout the night on the major blaze at a hotel.

The Cribbs Causeway Premier Inn went up in flames yesterday afternoon (July 17) and remains unsafe.

A total of six fire engines and three turntable ladders are on the scene, where they will stay overnight.

Avon Fire and Rescue's Twitter account said crews will keep pouring water over the property in a bid to bring the fire under control.

The building has been collapsing throughout the day, with pieces falling onto the A4108, causing the closure of the road.

The route is expected to stay shut for at least 24 hours, says the fire service.

The cause of the blaze remains unknown as the building is still unsafe to enter, but an investigation will be opened in due course.

Cladding used on the building was non-combustible, said the fire service, meaning it did not contribute to the spread of the fire.
