Fire service warning as man taken to hospital following crash on A52

The fire service has issued a warning in "tricky" driving conditions after a man was taken to hospital following a crash on the A52.

Two cars were involved in the incident which happened at around 3.30pm on Saturday, October 24.

The incident led to the closure of one lane on the A52, between Bardills Island and the M1, while two men were treated for their injuries.

Following the crash the road was closed for around an hour, but has since reopened.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The road is now fully open, but we’d still urge you to drive carefully if you have to at all.

"Driving conditions are tricky as the rain continues to batter Nottingham. 2 cars were involved in the collision and both extensively damaged.

"Two male adults received injuries and were treated by firefighters. One male was placed in a neck collar by paramedics and we temporarily closed the road fully, while he was placed in a basket stretcher.

"He was taken to hospital by ambulance, we do not believe his injuries to be life threatening. We’d like to thank you for your patience and understanding while we dealt with this incident."

The Met Office has given heavy rain for the rest of the day across Nottingham, lasting until midnight.
