Fire service statement as plumes of thick smoke seen over Hucknall

Dramatic images show thick plumes of smoke across Hucknall.

Firefighters were called at 5.02pm on Thursday (September 2) to a report of a fire in the open.

However, upon inspection, the incident in Common Lane turned out to be a shed fire.

The shed is thought to have contained tyres.

Two fire engines from the Arnold and Hucknall fire stations were called to the scene.

There were no reports of any injuries and the "stop message" came into the fire service control room at 6.41pm.

On the apparatus used, a Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "One hose reel jet, one small jet, and earlier there was one main jet.

"They have now scaled that down."
