Fire service reveals why there was a power cut in parts of Nottinghamshire

Firefighters have said residents in parts of Nottinghamshire experienced a power outage after an electrical box caught fire.

Properties across the NG16 area, mainly in Nuthall, were affected by the outage on July 7 after the electrical fire on Larkfield Road, Nuthall.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at about 4pm following reports of the blaze, with thermal imaging cameras used by crews.

A spokesperson said: "Stockhill Station attended reports of a fire involving an electrical installation box on Larkfield Road Nuthall.

"Engineers from Western Power were in attendance and isolated the electricity subsequent to crews using a thermal image camera to check for signs of heat."

Western Power Distribution has apologised to residents for the outage.

A spokesperson said: "We're pleased to say that all power supplies to the NG16, Nuthall area are restored.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the power cut."
