Fire service makes 'glaring sun' warning after crash in Sutton Bonington

Firefighters have issued a warning after a motorist was taken to hospital after a crash in a village. The crash occurred in Sutton Bonington on Thursday, March 17.

Fire crews from Castle Donington were dispatched to the scene and pictures show a HGV which had gone off the road and damage done to the front of a car. The pictures were released by the fire service along with a warning to drivers, to make sure their screens are de-misted and be aware of low and glaring sun.

One person was taken to hospital, but only as a precaution. A spokesperson for the Castle Donington station said: "This morning [March 17] we attended a road traffic collision in Sutton Bonnington. One person went to hospital as a precaution.

"At this time of year the sun can be very low and glaring at certain times of the day. Ensure you de-mist your screens, use your mirrors and make sure you double check there is plenty of space and time before turning or pulling out at junctions."
