Fire Service in 100ft rescue operation to save dog trapped in quarry

A small dog has been saved by a specialist Fire Service Rescue Team after getting stuck in a quarry.

The pooch, was trapped on the Armagh Road , Newtownhamilton, on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire Service told Belfast Live the dog was uninjured.

She added: "We received a call on 8 March 2020 at 9:55am. One Appliance from Newtownhamilton Fire Station and the Specialist Rescue Team attended the incident.

"Our Specialist Rescue Team and Firefighters from Newtownhamilton rescued a dog who was trapped in a quarry on Sunday 8 March.

"The Specialist Rescue Team, aided by Newtownhamilton Firefighters, descended 100 feet into the quarry to retrieve the dog, who was uninjured. The incident was dealt with by 1:50pm."
