Fire service called to 'cable explosion' in Nuncargate

The fire service were called to an incident where a electric cable exploded in a Nottinghamshire town.

Emergency services received a call out near to the Post Office on Nuncargate Road, Kirkby in Ashfield at 09.27am on October 17.

A fire engine was photographed on the road by an eyewitness.

And fire crews from Ashfield and Hucknall were deployed to the scene of the explosion.

But no action was taken by the crews as the incident was dealt with by the electricity board.

A spokesperson for Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service said: "The electricity board isolated it and we did not have to take any action in this case.

"We have now left the area."
