Fire rips through Kilmarnock shop as road is locked down

A Kilmarnock road is currently locked down this morning as firefighters try to tackle a shop fire.

Holehouse Road is sealed off and specialist equipment is being used to bring a blaze at Heather Store under control.

A giant ladder has been deployed above the shop with police officers manning a cordon around the scene of the incident.

An eye-witness reported seeing fire crews focusing attention on a fire inside the shop shortly before 7am today.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.12am on Friday, November 26, to reports of a fire affecting commercial premises in Holehouse Road, Kilmarnock.

“Operations control immediately mobilised three fire engines to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire.

“One crew remains at the scene ensuring the area is made safe.”
