Fire rips through home destroying it in devastating blaze

A house has been destroyed in a fire which ripped through the roof.

A number of crews were sent to the blaze on Barnes Croft in Heanor on Sunday (March 29).

Flames tore through the home and completely destroyed the roof, leaving barely the structure of it behind.

Firefighters from several stations arrived just after 12.30pm to tackle the fire.

Crews from Heanor, Eastwood, Ilkeston, Ripley, and Ascot Drive were all sent.

The cause of the blaze isn't yet known, and there were no reported injuries.

Eastwood Fire Station wrote on their Facebook page: "Today (29/03/20) at 12.40 Eastwood along with Heanor, Ilkeston, Ripley and the Ariel Ladder Platform (ALP) from Ascot Drive were mobilised to Barnes Croft, Heanor.

"The incident was a house fire which had spread to the roof. 6 Breathing Apparatus, 3 hosereels, 2 main jets and the ALP were used to extinguish the fire.

Aerial platforms used to put out the fire (Eastwood Fire Station)

"The cause is currently under investigation.

"Please whilst we are all social distancing can we all take the time to make sure smoke alarms work and everyone knows the escape plan."
