Residents are being urged to avoid an area of Kirkdale after a fire ripped through a derelict building.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews are currently in attendance at a fire on Regent Road. Crews were alerted at 7.02pm and arrived four minutes later with four fire engines at the scene as well as an aerial appliance.
Nearby residents and businesses are being urged to close windows and doors and anyone with existing medical conditions should "keep medicine nearby and call NHS 111 if ill effects occur".

In a statement, the service urged people to avoid the area as they said: "On arrival crews found a derelict building involved in fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have been committed to the premises and are using main branches to tackle the fire."
At 8.48pm, the service confirmed the fire was extinguished and ventilation is taking place. The incident is expected to be scaled down shortly.
