Fire now 'under control' after early morning blaze at Amble industrial estate

Firefighters have tackled a blaze which broke out at an industrial estate in Amble in the the early hours of the morning.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service responded to the fire which broke out at Holywell Engineering Ltd at Amble industrial estate just after 2am on Wednesday.

Three fire engines were called to the scene, with emergency services at the industrial estate for most of the day on Wednesday.

Giving an update in the afternoon, fire crews said the blaze is under control but that fire engines will return later to check that the blaze has been fully extinguished.

A spokeswoman from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said the call came into fire control at 2.09am, from the industrial estate in Amble.

Three appliances, one from Amble, one from Alnwick and one from Pegswood, were sent to the scene.

She added that the fire was under control, and crews were dampening down the blaze.
