Fire near railway line sends plumes of smoke billowing over Stockport

A fire near a railway line sent plumes of smoke billowing over part of Stockport this evening. The blaze broke out on an embankment next to the railway line off Greg Street in Reddish at around 5:30pm.

A fire engine was dispatched with firefighters remaining at the scene for several hours. It is not thought any rail services were affected as a result of the incident. However, plumes of smoke could be seen a number of residents living nearby.
