Fire melts two double decker buses as inferno rips through Scots depot

A fire melted two double decker buses after a Glasgow depot went up in flames.

Shocking photos show the aftermath of the huge blaze at First Bus' Caledonia Depot in Cathcart Road in the south side of the city.

Fire crews raced to the inferno when the alarm was raised at 12.30am on Wednesday.

Officers tackled the flames for just over two hours.

Their last appliance left the scene, having fully extinguished the blaze, at 2.40am.

The following morning both vehicles could still be seen at the Glasgow depot, one bus is almost left completely hollowed out by the flames.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

No injuries were reported to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

It is not yet known if the the fire was suspicious.

Police Scotland told the Record that the incident had not been reported to them.

SFRS confirmed their attendance.

A spokesman told the Record: "We were called at 12.30 to Cathcart Road after reports of two double decker buses on fire.

"Two appliances attended.

"The last appliance left the scene at 2.40am.

"We are unable to give any further information at this time."
