Fire Leith Walk: Emergency services rush to extinguish skip blaze last night

Emergency services were seen to Leith last night after a blaze erupted.

Three fire crews were pictured at the incident near Easter Road and Thorntree Street, as smoke billowed into the surrounding areas.

At around 11.15pm the fire engines were seen racing through Leith accompanied by blue lights and sirens as they made their way to put out the blaze.

Images captured by a local resident show the fire was started in a nearby skip that appears to have been set a light.

Flames can be seen roaring out of the skip itself after catching onto wooden planks and palettes that are sitting at the bottom.

Thankfully, the emergency services were able to put out the fire quickly, with the area now safe.

Police and the fire service are also investigating a series of arson attacks at an Edinburgh graveyard after it was reported by a local resident.
