Fire in Patterton as emergency services rush to blaze

Fire crews have rushed to a blaze in Patterton to the south of Glasgow this evening.

Pictures posted on social media show smoke billowing across the sky, with reports of a fire at Patterton Farm. Some users say they have seen the smoke near to Patterton train station.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to Glasgow Live they are in attendance in the area, as we await further detail.

UPDATE 22:00: The Scottish Fire and Rescue service have released a statement which confirms: "We were alerted at 8.11pm on Saturday June 20 to reports of a well-developed fire in the open in Newton Mearns.

"Operations control mobilised three appliances to Patterton Farm where firefighters were met with a large quantity of tyres on fire.

"Crews remain on the scene working to extinguish the fire.

"There are no casualties."
