Fire in Glasgow Tradeston: crews attend caravan blaze as huge plume of smoke seen across city

Fire crews were alerted to a blaze in the Tradeston area this morning.

A huge plume of smoke appeared in the skyline around 11am and was spotted by residents across the city.

Two Scottish Fire & Rescue Service appliances attended the scene at a car park on Wallace Street, near the House of Sher warehouse in the south side, after being alerted to reports of a derelict caravan on fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and left after ensuring the area was made safe.

There were no reported casualties.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire & Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 10.51am on Friday, March 5 to reports of a derelict caravan on fire at a car park at Wallace Street, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene. Firefighters extinguished the fire and left after ensuring the area was made safe. There were no reported casualties.”
