Fire in Glasgow - caravan blaze sees smoke billow across city centre

Smoke was seen across Glasgow city centre last night after a caravan caught fire in Port Dundas.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Burns Street, just to the north of the city centre, as smoke was seen billowing across the city.

This morning, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was extinguished shortly after 8pm, and there were no casualties during the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 7.46pm on Thursday, July 18 to reports of a fire involving a caravan within an industrial estate at Sawmillfield Street in Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances, where crews extinguished the fire.

“There were no casualties, and crews left at 8.06pm.”
