Fire hit furniture factory in Pathum Thani

PATHUM THANI -- A fire broke out at a furniture factory in Lam Lok Ka district late on Saturday night, causing considerable damage, police said.

The factory, at Moo 1 village in tambon Bung Kham Phroy, is located on a plot of about one rai.  It was built with a steel structure fitted with wood planks and gypsum boards.  About half of the building is used to store furniture.

The fire broke out at about 11pm in the furniture storage area. Shortly afterwards, what sounded like a series of sporadic explosions was heard.

Eight fire trucks were despatched to the factory.  The fire was brought under control quickly.

The damage had yet to be assessed but was believed to be several million baht.

Nobody was hurt, as nobody was inside the factory when the fire broke out.
