‘Fire Gase’ chants break out near Jets’ locker room after loss to Dolphins

Following an embarrassing 26-18 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Jets fans have seen enough of Adam Gase.

As Gase was heading into the tunnel in Miami, Jets fans were chanting “Fire Gase.” With a 1-7 record and the team looking non-competitive week after week, it’s understandable that fans are calling for the coach’s head.

Gase’s Jets have looked ill-prepared, undisciplined and like they don’t even want to be playing football at time this season. Sunday’s to the winless Dolphins in Gase’s return to Miami was no different.

The last offensive-minded head coach the Jets hired was Rich Kotite in 1995 and his teams looked better than what Gase has right now. This hire has turned into an unmitigated disaster for the Jets and it somehow gets worse by the week.

That said, don’t count on the Jets firing Gase after this loss. General manager Joe Douglas has a tight relationship with Gase and owner Christopher Johnson hand-picked Gase to come aboard. Firing him now would be a rather stunning admission that the CEO messed up. Jets fans could get their wish in the offseason, but any in-season firing looks unlikely at this point.
