Fire erupts on the field before Titans’ game vs. Colts

The energy at Nissan Stadium was absolute fire before the Tennessee Titans’ game against the Indianapolis Colts in Nashville on Sunday.

Also there was actually, literally a fire on the field.

According to reporters at the game, the pre-game pyrotechnics show created a significant fire on the sideline of the field. The Athletic’s Zak Keefer suggested a speaker caught aflame. Multiple reporters, including ESPN’s Turron Davenport, caught videos of the flames, which the staff at Nissan Stadium quickly handled and put out. Still, while the flames lasted, there was a huge plume of black smoke rising from the field. Even so, the game seemed to start on time.

Here is a wild photo of the heart of the fire, with a staffer doing his best to quell the flames.

The Colts tweeted that they were “fired up” before the game. Whether the social media manager knew it or not, they had made quite the pun. And one Twitter user couldn’t stop themself from pointing it out.

It does not seem as though anyone was harmed from the fire.
