Fire engulfs Scotstoun flat as three are rushed to hospital

Three people were rushed to hospital after a fire engulfed a flat in Scotstoun.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Earl Street yesterday evening, after the blaze had taken hold of the ground floor property.

The three casualties were transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance where they are being treated for smoke inhalation.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 7.09pm on Monday, March 9 to reports of a house fire in Scotstoun, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire within a ground floor flat.

“Three casualties suffering from smoke inhalation were taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel.

“Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene after ensuring the area had been made safe.”
