Fire engines block village road after car and van crash in Mendip Hills

Fire and ambulance crews attended a crash involving a car and van in a North Somerset village earlier today (Monday, November 9).

Avon Fire and Rescue Service responded to the two-vehicle collision in the village of Blagdon in the Mendip Hills.

Winscombe Fire Station tweeted an image of the aftermath, showing the crumpled bonnet of what looked to be a green Mini Cooper.

The front of the car was pictured completely destroyed, with one wheel hanging off.

Crews from Temple Fire Station in Bristol and Yatton Fire Station also responded to the incident.

The tweet reported: "This incident involved a car and van.

"Casualties now in the hands of @swasFT #RoadTrafficCollision #StaySafe."

South Western Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.

Google's traffic sensors suggest that Station Road and Garston Lane in Blagdon were closed until about 5pm, though it is not clear if this is as a result of the crash.
