Fire destroys building at Jamie and Rebekah Vardy's home

The Lincolnshire home of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy and his wife Rebekah has been severely damaged following a fire.

Firefighters were called to the star couple's home in a small village near Grantham at 3.20pm on Thursday, January 19. According to a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire Service, the blaze caused severe damage to a wooden outbuilding which was being used as a gym.

They also confirmed that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in the gym, Lincolnshire Live reports.. Rebekah Vardy posted a picture of two of her children inside a fire engine on Instagram with the caption: "Every cloud and all that. Thankfully no one was hurt…. Buildings and contents are replaceable and the kiddies enjoyed the fire engines. Thank you for being so brilliant."

One nearby resident said: "There was a fire yesterday, I saw two fire engines, one on the drive and one outside. We were just popping out and we saw flashing lights.

"I don't know what all the fuss is about with the Vardys - they're quite friendly, Jamie always says hi. They have large fences around the property and cameras which are quite intrusive."

Another woman who can see the Vardys' house from hers said: “I didn’t see anything apart from a few fire engines outside for a while. They were there most of the afternoon.”

The Vardy's home is a Grade II listed property worth £2.5 million and features eight beds. Rebekah received planning permission from South Kesteven District Council last year to build a stable complex near the ground of the house.
