Fire crews tackle late-night tyre blaze in Drumchapel

Fire crews tackled a blaze in Drumchapel late last night.

Emergency services were called Dalsetter Avenue at around 11:36pm. Police urged locals to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke billowing from the site.

It's understood a large pile of tyres at the rear of Garscadden House had been set alight.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 11.36pm on Thursday, July 23 to reports of a fire in the open on Dalsetter Avenue, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene where a large quantity of tyres were alight.

“Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and left after making the area safe.”
