Fire crews tackle huge blaze at block of flats in Glasgow

A major blaze has broken out at a construction site in Glasgow this morning.

Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to a four-storey block of flats on Olympia Street, in the Bridgeton area at around 2.10am.

Fire crews have been battling the inferno throughout the morning and still remain at the scene in a bid to tackle the flames.

As a result of the blaze London Road is closed between Bridgeton Cross and Brook Street.

There are no reports of any casualties.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Services were alerted at around 2:10am this morning to reports of a fire in Glasgow.

"Operations control mobilised a number of appliances to Olympia Street where firefighters are currently tackling a fire in a four-storey building.

"There are no casualties and crew remain on the scene."
