Fire crews tackle flat blaze in Glasgow's southside

Fire crews are tackling a flat blaze in Glasgow's southside.

A block of flats in the area of Clarkston Road have reportedly been evacuated after police and fire crews arrived at the scene at around 11:20am.

Officers have cordoned off the street to traffic as footage on social media shows smoke emerging from a flat near Cathcart station.

The road is currently closed between Struan Road and Holmlea Road

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said the building was evacuated and there have been no reports of any injuries.

She added: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were notified by police at 11:21am to attend a flat fire at Clarkston Road. The fire service is still currently in attendance."
