Firefighters are at the scene of a blaze which has taken hold in a tenement block in the Gallowgate.
Crews were deployed to the east end street after the alarm was raised at around 5:22pm.
The street is currently closed between Moir Street and Ross Street, while police and fire service remain at the scene.
No one is understood to have been hurt.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We were alerted to a dwelling fire at the Gallowgate.
"Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the scene where crews remain in attendance as they work to extinguish the fire."
