A heartbroken father who lost four children in a Melbourne house fire has hit out at fire crews for not getting to the blaze quick enough.
But the CFA says crews arrived under the acceptable wait time of eight minutes.
Speaking outside The Alfred hospital on Tuesday, Nagmeldin Osman told the Herald Sun that crews took too long to get to the fire.
"More than half an hour (to) 45 minutes we waited for the fire (department) to come and it's night-time," he said.
"If it's daytime I accept it can be traffic ... they were very, very late. They are not far from my house, even just seven minutes (away).
"I don't want this to happen to anyone else."
His four children, aged from one to 10, died after a fire engulfed a Mantello Drive home in Werribee in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A fifth child, an eight-year-old boy, has been discharged from hospital.
In a statement, the CFA said fire crews arrived at the Werribee home under the standard response time of eight minutes.
"More than 30 CFA firefighters with support from FRV firefighters battled the fire," the statement said.
"Firefighters worked under very challenging conditions and had to attack the fire externally due to its intensity.
"Our thoughts are with the family and the first responders during this difficult and tragic time."
On Monday, dozens of tributes were left outside the home, which was gutted by the fire.
Arson and explosives squad detectives are investigating the cause of the blaze.
