Fire crews rush to tackle blaze at Aberdeenshire care home as residents are evacuated

Residents of an Aberdeenshire have been evacuated after the roof caught alight this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to attend the fire at Ythanvale Care Home in Ellon at around 12pm.

Two height appliances and one jet were used to tackle the flames the single story building on Park Road.

The fire started in a nearby shed and spread to the main building.

A spokeswoman said: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called at 12pm on Monday, May 13 to reports a fire on the roof space of a single story building."

"There are no known injuries but residents have received check ups."
