Fire crews rush to blaze in Aberdeen city centre

Fire crews have tackled a blaze in the heart of Aberdeen.

The fire broke out this morning on the Green sending thick plumes of black smoke into the Granite City sky.

Stunned onlookers watched as a fire engine rushed to the scene of the pedestrianised area at 11.10 am.

The crew battled the blaze for 13 minutes using a hose reel jet.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "One fire engine was in attendance.

"The call came in at 11.10 am when the fire was alight.

"A hosereel jet was used.

"The stop message came back at 11.23 am."
