Fire crews rescue two women trapped in car stuck in mud

Fire crews from Thornbury Fire Station were called to an incident where two women were stuck in a car in the mud.

It happened in Tytherington in the early hours of this morning (March 20).

On Thornbury Fire Station’s Twitter account, crews tweeted: “Not your average call but happy to assist none the less.

"2 young ladies who had become well and truly stuck in the mud in their car on #Tytherington hill grassland.

"Happy to help and all in their way home safe and sound #notjustfires #thornbury.”

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “Crews from Thornbury Fire Station were called at 1:52am to Tytherington Hill Grassland.

“On arrival, we found one car stuck in the mud and two females stuck inside.

“Crews used small gear manual handling to retrieve the car from the mud.”

It comes as Avon and Somerset Police declared a 'major incident' in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
