Fire crews rescue man from roof of Aberdeenshire fish factory

Fire crews have rescued a man who become stuck on the roof of a seafood warehouse in Aberdeenshire.

Firefighters were scrambled from Peterhead to the incident at Thistle Seafoods in Boddam around 1.12pm this afternoon.

The man, a worker at the seafood manufacturer, had fallen and hurt his ankle while on top of the building.

Ambulances were in attendance at the Harbour Street site.

Two fire engines were also assembled for the rescue bid and an extended ladder was used to help the man down.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.12pm on Monday, February 17 to reports of a member of the public in need of assistance at a commercial property on Harbour Street, Boddam, Peterhead.

“Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance and a height appliance to the scene where firefighters assisted one man from the property and handed him into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
