Fire crews race to Amazon depot in Fife as workers evacuated

Emergency services raced to a fire at the Amazon depot in Fife earlier.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene of the incident on Sandpiper Drive, Dunfermline, this evening, with crews arriving just after 9pm.

Pictures taken outside the building, just off the M90, show crowds of people gathered, with some using foil blankets to keep warm amid the cold weather sweeping Scotland.

Amazon have confirmed that workers were evacuated but say were back in the building within 20 minutes.

They confirmed there were no injuries.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were mobilised to the Amazon depot this evening, Wednesday January 6, 2020.

"Further details are unavailable at this time."

An Amazon spokesperson said: “We can confirm there was a small fire at our Dunfermline fulfilment centre.

"The safety of our people is our priority and all associates were safely evacuated and operations have now resumed.”
