Fife Zoo fire: Firefighters on the scene as blaze leaves one person injured

Fire crews have raced to a Fife Zoo after a blaze broke out at the attraction this afternoon.

It is understood that emergency services remain at the scene, near Cupar, after a fire broke out in a building with soft play facilities.

Visitors have also been evacuated from the zoo which reopened just days, with reports of smoke billowing from the roof.

Fife Today also reported that keepers managed to safely evacuated the zoo's marmosets, whose enclosure was nearby the inferno.

One person is said to have been injured and has been rushed to hospital.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters were on the scene.

"We received the call around 12.11pm and are in attendance," she said.
