Fire crews race to blaze in Fife as thick smoke billows out above town

Fire crews have raced to the scene of a blaze at a Scots industrial estate.

Emergency crews are currently on the scene of the fire, after being called to Eastfield Industrial Estate in Glenrothes on Friday evening.

The alarm was raised at 6.21pm and four appliances rushed to the scene.

Photos shared online by Fife Jammers show huge plumes of smoke billowing out of buildings at the estate as they loom over the town.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) chiefs confirmed the blaze with officers still on the scene trying to put it out.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.21pm on Friday, July 9 to reports of a fire in a building at Eastfield Industrial Estate, Glenrothes.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene.

“Crews remain in attendance.”
