Fire crews put out blaze at Salford restaurant caused by dishwasher

Firefighters put out a blaze caused by a dishwasher at a restaurant in Salford.

Five engines were called to Le Cassi's, in the Vimto Gardens complex, on Chapel Street, on Sunday evening (March 1).

The restaurant was shut and cordoned off while crews dealt with the fire.

They were at the restaurant for an hour.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed the fire was caused by a dishwasher.

There are no reports of injuries.

Images taken at the scene showed fire engines parked outside the restaurant.

GMFRS said in a statement: "At around 10.10pm on Sunday, March 1, five fire engines attended an incident on Chapel Street, in Salford.

"The fire involved an industrial dishwasher in a restaurant.

"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel, breaking in gear and a smoke curtain to extinguish the fire.

"Crews were on the scene for just over an hour."
