Fire crews issue contact warning after attending 2-car crash in north Nottinghamshire

The fire service have warned of the risks involved after crews were called to a crash in Underwood between two cars.

Pictures show both cars were severely damaged in the collision, which happened at around 6pm on Sunday, March 29.

However, the occupants of the car had managed to escape the vehicles. It is not known if they sustained any injuries.

The crash happened on Mansfield Road in Underwood.

The incident has prompted the fire service to remind people that during the coronavirus outbreak, "minimising contact is paramount" and attending a crash "can put multiple people at risk".

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 6pm tonight (29/03/20) Eastwood and Alfreton were sent to a road traffic collision on Mansfield Road, Underwood.

"Upon arrival crews found two cars that had been in a collision.

"The occupants of the cars self-released from the vehicles on advice from paramedics.

"Both vehicles were made safe.

"Please drive to arrive. Remember during the current situation minimising contact is paramount and being involved in an incident the requires the fire service can put multiple people at risk."
