Fire crews extinguish blaze caused by kitchen cooker in Rochdale

Fire crews extinguished a blaze caused by a kitchen cooker in Rochdale.

Four fire engines were called to the blaze on Clover Hall Crescent just before 5.25pm on Tuesday (January 15).

Firefighters treated two people who were inside at the time for smoke inhalation.

They were then checked over by North West Ambulance Service staff, but did not need hospital treatment.

It is understood the fire started in the kitchen and involved a cooker.

Firefighters from Littleborough, Heywood, Oldham and Rochdale attended the scene.

They used breathing apparatus and specialist equipment to bring the fire under control.

The crews were at the scene for just over 30 minutes.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 5.23pm yesterday.

"Our fire engines from Littleborough, Heywood, Oldham and Rochdale attended a fire at Clover Hall Crescent, in Rochdale.

"We were called to reports of a cooker in a kitchen fire in a small semi-detached property.

"It was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, and specialist equipment."
