Fire crews called to garden blaze in Hartcliffe

People were treated for smoke inhalation in Hartcliffe last night (July 25) after a garden fire.

The fire service took 20 minutes to put out the flames affecting a garage and some fence panels on Whitland Road.

Crews from Bedminster and Temple stations were sent out after a call was received at 9.37pm. They used a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze by 9.56pm.

The ambulance service treated the house occupants for smoke inhalation.

A fire service spokesman said the cause is thought to be an accident, adding that crews remained on scene to offer safety advice.

The ambulance service has been contacted for comment.
