Fire crews battling huge blaze at Scots scrapyard as smoke billows across sky

Fire crews are currently battling a huge blaze at a scrapyard in Falkirk.

Emergency services raced to Angus Braidwood and Son's on Castle Drive at Bankside Industrial Estate after the alarm was raised shortly after 1pm on Saturday, June 5.

Pictures taken from the scene show huge flames ripping through the site.

A thick cloud of black smoke can be seen billowing up into the sky from several miles away.

Police have closed the surrounding roads while firefighters deal with the blaze.

One eyewitness said: "The scrap yard is on fire, I just drove past it.

"I work round the corner and it looks like it's getting worse now."

It's unclear at this stage if there have been any injuries as a result of the blaze.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland have been approached for a comment.
