Fire crews battling blaze at Scots train station as services suspended

Fire crews are battling a blaze at a Scots train station with peak-time services suspended.

Emergency services are currently in attendance at Stonehaven Train Station battling a blaze after being called just before 4pm.

Services between Aberdeen and Edinburgh have been revised while emergency services deal with the incident.

The extent of the fire is not yet known but it is understood to have started in a bin within the waiting room.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call to Stonehaven station at 3.44pm and we have two appliances on the scene.

"One appliance from Stonehaven and one appliance from Altens in Aberdeen is in attendance at the fire."

ScotRail also tweeted to warn travellers of disruption just before the weekend rush hour.

They said: "NEW: Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Stonehaven, our services between Aberdeen and Edinburgh will be revised."

Updates regarding train services can be found on the ScotRail website.
