Fire crews tackled a blaze for around five hours last night in the disused Halton Magistrates Court in Runcorn.
Six fire engines in total were on the scene at the court, on Second Avenue, to fight the flames on the first floor of the building.
Two fire crews attended from Runcorn, one from Widnes, and others from Frodsham, Stockton Heath and Penketh, at around 8pm on Monday, December 13.

Police were also at the scene and closed off a section of the road while crews battled the fire.
It is believed no-one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters attended to reports of a fire at a disused Law Court on Second Avenue.
"Wearing two breathing apparatus, crews entered the building with one hose reel to locate the fire. The fire was located on the first floor.
"Once the fire was extinguished crews ventilated the property and dampened down with a hose reel jet. The temperature and hot spots were checked using a thermal imaging camera.
"The Second Avenue road was closed while firefighters tackled the blaze.
"No one was inside the building at the time and there are no reported injuries.
"Crews were in attendance for around five hours."
An investigation between the fire service and police into the cause of the fire has begun.
