Fire crews at scene of blaze near restaurant in Cardonald

A blaze has ripped through a building in Paisley Road West.

The building, next to restaurant Bella Vita on Mosspark Boulevard, caught fire at around 3:40am this morning.

The blaze was initially thought to have taken hold in Bella Vita but staff confirmed it was an out-uilding next to the eatery. The restaurant will be closed and will re-open as normal tomorrow.

A manager told Glasgow Live: "It was an external building to the side of the restaurant however we may have to close today due to smoke but everyone is safe and the restaurant is fine. Will be back open tomorrow as usual for business."

Plumes of smoke and flames can be seen billowing out of the roof in video captured by Twitter user @StaceyC07.

Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed they are still in attendance with one appliance at the scene.

Police Scotland were reached for comment.
