No injuries were reported after a fire broke out Friday at a home in West Suburban St. Charles.

Firefighters responded about 10:14 p.m. to a home in the 200 block of Tower Hill Drive and found heavy smoke inside, according to the St. Charles Fire Department.

The fire was located in the basement and crews had it under control in about 15 minutes, fire said.

Two people who were asleep when the blaze erupted were woken up by a fire alarm and managed to escape with their two dogs, fire said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious, fire said. Damages were estimated at $10,000.
